Performance and Emission Analysis of Watermelon Seed Oil Methyl Ester and n-Butanol Blends Fueled Diesel Engine

The impact of n-butanol, a next-generation biofuel, with watermelon methyl ester in constant-speed diesel engine was analyzed. Methyl from seed oil is considered to be promising alternative source the standard due similar characterization. n-butanol additive added small proportions as an oxygenated fuel for reducing emissions, improving thermal efficiency, and accelerating combustion process. N-Butanol blended form emulsions two different (5% 10% volume basis). Experiments were conducted three fuels, WME20, W20Bu5D75, W20Bu10D70, compared vis-à-vis diesel. Investigations revealed that addition enhancer WME20 improved characteristics owing its inherent nature oxygen content. blending WME improves brake efficiency when slightly matches max BTE recorded 32.79% WME20Bu10D70 at crest load. peak BSFC 0.26 kg/kWh W20Bu10D70 emissions such CO, smoke opacity, HC significantly reduced, diesel, oxides nitrogen (NOX) carbon dioxide (CO2) decreased, relative WME20. maximum EGT 354.98°C CO 0.078% W20Bu5D75 reduces ignition delay while duration increases increase full load conditions. emulsion fuels tested unmodified did no negative on stability.
